The Canaries have been an importantdeparture point for vessels crossing the Atlantic since Columbus. Now the canaries have become a popular cruising ground as it is possible to sail all year round with the islands favourable climate.

The average temperature is 25 ºC and seldom varies more than 5 º either side, sea temperatures range from 19º to 23ºC. The seven major islands are spread over a distance of 240 miles in an east-west line, & it is generally possible to sail between islands in daylight.

Fuerteventura has five marinas which attract sailors and tourists alike...
Corralejo is on the north east tip of the island & the marina is at the heart of this working port & is a pleasant stroll from the town centre. Boat excursions can be found to Lanzarote and Isla de Lobos.
Puerto del Rosario is the Islands Capital and main commercial port. The marina is mainly for local craft but plans are being drawn up to provide berths for up to 600 yachts. The Marina by the promenade has sculptures, & benches from which to view the constant activity in the port.
Caleta de Fuste is a picturesque marina(see picture) close to the main beach and the town centre. The harbour provides all types of water sports for the tourist. With several bars and restaurants around the marina this makes an ideal spot to spend a relaxing hour.
Gran Tarajal is Fuerteventura’s newest marina & lies within this fishing and ferry port. The marina is close to the town with its bars, restaurants and blue flag beach. In September an international fishing competition is held with boats and competitors crowding the marina
and free nightly entertainment provided.
Morro Jable is a ferry port with a marina close to the bustling tourist town of Jandia which can be reached by a pleasant stroll from Morro Jable beach. To the south of the port long golden undisturbed beaches can be found.

Don’t be fooled into writing it off because it is a short course, ‘Corralejo Golf’ is certainly not a pitch and putt, and there are plenty of challenges to be encountered over its 673 metres even for the more accomplished
golfer, with three holes affected by water and others require very accurate hitting from tee to green. The greens are all 30mts+ in length and are all undulating on two if not three levels, so a keen eye is required
once on the greens.
Located in the Residential Parque Natural area of Corralejo, this 9 hole par 3 course is designed with full size greens maintained under the same management as Las Salinas, therefore they are kept in prime condition all year round, and with the surrounding
plantation and stunning views making this the perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a round of golf, or become familiar with the game and meet new friends.

Many golf courses have dress codes, and we appreciate that a number of people looking to play will be on holiday, so the dress code is not as strict. A pair of khaki shorts or slacks and a collared polo shirt is acceptable. With regards to foot wear, spiked golf shoes are not allowed, only soft
plastic spikes, or smart trainers will be acceptable, no sandals or flip flop style shoes are permitted.

Green fees for 18 holes is 20 Euros, and 13 Euros for 9 holes. The Hire of clubs is 5 Euros with a refundable 20 Euro deposit, additional golf balls are also available to purchase as new or used.
The Practise net and putting chipping areas are free. (These are current prices and may
be subject to seasonal change).

CASTILIAN SOUP
(Cost 2,50€, serves 4)
Ingredients:
4 spoon of Olive Oil
150 grs. of Bread (previous day better)
1 Large Onion
4 Garlic cloves
1 glass of White Wine
70 grs. of ‘Chorizo’
4 Eggs
1,5 lts. of Boiling Water
1 teaspoon of Paprika
2 Desert spoons of Parsley
Salt to taste

Put half of the oil in the frying pan with the the bread slices of 2 or 3 cms. When the bread is golden put to one side.
Cut the onion in strips and peel the garlics.
Poach the onion together with the garlic and when they start to become transparent add the sausage, give a couple of stirs and add the wine.
Take off the heat and add the paprika.
Return to the heat and then add the water and put salt to taste. Reduce during 8 minutes.
In an ovenproof dish place the bread and the content of the frying pan.
Put in the oven pre warmed to 200 ºC.
When crust is formed, open the oven and add the raw eggs on top. Leave it in the oven until the eggs are cooked.
Dust with parsley and the meal is ready to serve.

Approximately 12.000 persons went last night to the second and last of the concerts of the festival Fuerteventura in Music that organizes the Cabildo of Fuerteventura in the beach of El Cotillo, with the "Chill Flamenco" of Chambao and the music of the Rumanians Fanfare Ciocarlia.

As the Cabildo has reported, the party passed without prominent incidents during one night in which the decrease of the wind, which was subsiding during the whole day, allowed to the public to enjoy the last programmed concerts.

The money obtained last year in the Drawing of the Gold, has allowed Red Cross the acquisition of a new mobile unit, that will be destined to cover the services needed in the south of the Fuerteventura.

The presentation act of the new vehicle was developed on morning of this Tuesday with the presence of the president of the Assembly of Red Cross inFuerteventura, Gerardo Mesa; the president of Fuerteventura's Cabildo, Mario Cabrera; and the insular counselor of Security and Emergencies, Guillermo Concepción.

The total collection of the last edition of the drawing, reached 53.960 Euros, allowing to Red Cross in Fuerteventura to acquire the new vehicle for a cost of 49.140 Euros.
