The man made resort of Calete de Fuste (also known as Castillo) is situated in the middle of the island, providing easy assess to the airport (approx 15 minutes drive), the capital Puerto del Rosario (20 minutes drive), the resort of Corralejo in the north (45 minutes drive) and the resort of Costa Calma in the south (approx 1 hour).

Calete de Fuste has been specifically designed with the tourist in mind. There is therefore a varied choice of hotels and villa/apartment complexes to suit all tastes and these are supported by two commercial centres offering numerous shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets.

The picturesque marina houses a small aquarium and local boat trips can be arranged from here.

The long man made beach has been specifically designed in a horseshoe shape to avoid strong currents and so it is safe for young children if supervised and there are a number of water sports available for enthusiasts, including diving, jet ski hire and windsurfing.

Close by lies the Fuerteventura Golf Club Resort; an 18 hole par 70 golf course.   The club house bestows golf enthusiasts with a 50 bay driving range, large putting green, pro shop and of course the 19th hole for that long relaxing drink at the end of the day. The golf course hosted the final round of the Spanish Open during April 2004 and so serious golfers will also find the course challenging.  Membership is available at daily rates and irons and trolleys can be hired, so you won’t have to bring your own from home and pay that additional luggage fee at the airport

Other amenities in the area include a shopping complex, multi-cinema, ten pin bowling alley and an under water submarine for those who like looking at fish, but don’t want to get wet doing it!

Night life in Calete de Fuste is lively amongst the various bars and discothèques and many of the complexes and hotels provide in-house entertainment.
